NOTE MAY 2008: MICROSOFT RELEASED SERVICE PACK 3 FOR WINDOWS XP. I still recommend Windows XP for new computers for compatibility and performance.. XP is capable of using up to 3gb of RAM (Memory). Vista can certainly use 4gb of RAM (Memory). Typically, new computers of laptops have 2gb of memory with the option of upgrading immediately while the cost of memory is inexpensive.
